Color Theory and Sketches of Thought 

Two three-dimensional projection-mapped installations with custom audio in the atrium of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. 

They were exhibited as part of "The Diamond Sky" projection-mapping exhibition presented by Glowing Bulbs, The Leo Kuelbs Collection & John Ensor Parker.

Projection Mapping Henry Moore's "Spindle"

The late Henry Moore had great concern for light and shadow and it’s interaction with sculpture. He particularly had an appreciation for natural light as the sun changed position through the day. 

The 17’ tall Spindle at the InterContinental Miami is located in lobby and thus not afforded the evolving experience as if it were outdoors. So this site-specific, projection mapped work by artist John Ensor Parker explores the interaction of light, shadow, space and form by simulating movement of the sun and resulting shadows. The accompanying audio track was composed utilizing interview recordings with Mr. Moore and the BBC, custom recorded cello and sound effects.

This work was presented as part of Form and Substance | Miami.

Projected text, on the 100 meter facade of the InterContinental Miami as part of Form and Substance | Miami 2015

Projection mapping installation, conceived by a group of six artists, John Ensor Parker, Simon Anaya, Farkas Fulop, Johnny Moreno, Richard Jochum, & Ryan Uzilevsky. With significant sponsorship from visual production company Senovva, the artists developed a multi-perspective 3D installation that spans a nearly 30,000 square feet canvas on the Manhattan Bridge Anchorage in Brooklyn as part of the "Immersive Surfaces" video exhibition, curated by Leo Kuelbs.

Creation of the piece incorporates green screen film shoots, Kinect 3D scanning, stop-motion animation, computer modeling and a host of visual effect programs.

Visiting artists and instructors at Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, John Ensor Parker & Jason Krugman re-animated Bombyx-Mori Silk Cocoons. The interactive installation enlisted infrared sensors, solenoids, microprocessors, LED's, silk cocoons and an accompanying sound score.

Event Mechanics was exhibited at Galeria Carles Tache in Barcelona, 2013. 

According to Relativity, an Event is something that occurs under defined conditions of Place and Time. Event Mechanics explores Events from the analytical and non-analytical conditions.

Truth Procedures

Metaphysical theorist Alain Badiou states that philosophy produces Truth from Events via four “truth procedures”: Art, Love, Politics, and Science. Badiou’s major propositions are stated in Being and Event (1988), in which he attempts to reconcile Subject with ontology. His work draws on both Analytical and Continental traditions, while attempting to break out of the confines of language and formula. This effort leads him to combine mathematical formulae with his readings of poets such as Mallarmé and Hölderlin.

Event Mechanics is also an exercise in multi-faceted inquiry. But where Badiou develops Truth through his four Truth Procedures (Art, Love, Politics, Science), Event Mechanicsapproaches Truth through specific conditions, including hate, passion, melancholy, hope, etc. The relevance of these conditions—which do not apply to current mathematical models of natural law—are related to the Event with other conditions which aremeasurable, testable, and calculable: time, space, mass, electromagnetic force, gravity, volume, etc.

A Unifying Equation

In studying the natural laws and mathematical principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics—the foundations of Truth—I submit that because individuals are a subset of Truth, that we are governed by the same laws. But our understanding of Truth is surprisingly limited, particularly when it comes to developing models of the most primitive conditions. The work of Event Mechanics suggests that these conditions are simply variables of an overall unifying equation; that is, a theory that explains all interactions through a single model. As with any equation, Truth is essential at every level of input. This is perhaps the greatest challenge: to experience, observe, collect, and analyze our conditions without bias.
